If you need a working platform that remains mainly stationery, for example erecting racking or fascias on the outside of buildings then perhaps a diesel rough terrain scissor lift or for inside work an electric self-propelled scissor lift would be most suitable. These machines reach up to approximately 17 metres or 57ft and have extending platforms and the small machines will go through a doorway only 900mm wide. If you need a more flexible access platform, for example erecting electric cables, or working over a large area of the outside of a building, then more likely you would need a boom lift. These can reach up to 30 metres (90ft) and can be self-propelled, rough terrain, diesel or electric, or mounted on a vehicle. If you are working on very bad ground then ask for the rough terrain 4-wheel drive machines, if you are working inside ask for the electric powered narrow machines.
